As founder, chairman and chief executive officer of the Bose Corporation, Dr. Bose steadily earned a reputation as the premium supplier of audio sound for both professional and home applications. Bose in collaboration with Delco, unveiled the first factory installed premium system for a specific automobile and later unveiled the Bose Suspension System.
Dr. Bose was raised in Philadelphia by his parents who were both Indian immigrants. As a child, Bose was always fascinated with electronics, specifically radios. As a teenager, he opened his first radio repair business from his parents’ house, which grew to be a little bigger than he had envisioned. Bose had to take Fridays off from school to maintain his growing business, never letting his grades waiver.
In 1947, Bose was accepted and enrolled at MIT in Boston, MA. After almost 10 years of education, Bose graduated with a doctorate in 1956. To celebrate, he purchased the best hi-fi radio he could buy, only to be disappointed by the low sound quality of the speakers. At the time, Bose was working as a professor at MIT, and he recruited some of his colleagues to work on audio innovations with him after work. In 1964, Bose opened the Bose Corporation in Framingham, MA.
