    TV cook Rachel Khoo brought us a taste of the French capital from her bijou apartment – so who better to give us a tour of her secret shopping gems?


    Rachel approached Penguin with her idea for a book of classic French recipes with ‘a new approach’ . They loved it, then the BBC offered her a primetime slot, and The Little Paris Kitchen was born

    Rachel Khoo, and her tiny kitchen, are perfect examples of why the best things come in the smallest packages. At just 5ft 2in, she has become a global culinary sensation from a Paris kitchen which can best be described as bijou.

    Originally from Croydon, Rachel moved to Paris aged 26 seeking adventure and wanting to learn to be a pâtissière. ‘I’d always been fascinated by food [while studying art at Central Saint Martins she was encouraged to experiment in different mediums and used gingerbread], so I came to Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. I didn’t speak a word of French, so it was a scary prospect but I wanted to do something I’d never done before.’
